Tours close October 30, 2024 and re-open April 2025
No tours conducted on Sunday, Mondays,Tuesdays,major holidays and Tribal Holidays (Bear Dance first weekend of June Monday).
- Wednesdays: Full and Half day tours conducted. Tour reservations required.
- Thursdays: Full and Half day tours conducted. Tour reservations required.
- Fridays: Full and Half day tours conducted. Tour reservations required.
- Saturdays: Full and Half day tours conducted. Tour reservations required.

Tour Area Driving Distance
Half day tours: a drive of 34 miles round trip on good gravel road to UMTP Kiva Point and back to the Tribal Park Visitor Center.
Full day tours: a drive of 82 miles round trip on gravel and dirt roads from the Tribal Park Visitor Center to UMTP North Lion Canyon Cliff Dwellings.
A UMTP tour transportation fee can be paid at $16.00 per person. UMTP Transport vehicle is a 12 passenger van. An ice cooler can be brought on the UMTP transport vehicle and removed to a picnic area.
Children's rates do not apply with Private Tours, Park Transportation fee rates, or remote section tours.
Essential Tour Information
YOU MUST HAVE A UTE GUIDE TO ENTER THE UTE MOUNTAIN UTE TRIBAL LAND. WE "DO NOT" ALLOW SELF-GUIDED TOURS.
No dogs are allowed. No professional photography is allowed.
It is our duty as Native Americans to preserve and protect our historical land sites so, PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE pottery shards or deface prehistoric or any historical elements while on tour(s).
*It must be noted that the Ute Mountain reservation is sovereign nation, and we ask you respectfully to accept our ways of life and our cultural believes.
Ute Mountain Tribal Park Visitor Center has rest rooms with running water.All rest rooms with non-running water or outdoor type are cleaned and stocked with toilet paper.

During the National Preservation month of May Ute Mountain Tribal Park will have an Open House on May 25, 2024, from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. The Open House will be the Tribal Park Visitor Center/Museum at Highway Junction 160/491 (formerly Highway Junction 160/666), twenty miles south of Cortez, Colorado, and eight miles south of the Ute Mountain Casino.
